Can You Help?

Here are some organisations in the Dales that really need some help like sharing posts on social media, help raising funds for a charity task, donating prizes for an event and much more besides.

 

The bike pump track is coming to Sedbergh on Friday April 10th until Sunday 12th April and group who are organising it are asking for help with proving refreshments for the Helm Hill Fell Race.

To help to raise funds they are asking for donations of cakes.

The Helm Hill Fell Race takes place on Sunday 22nd March and between 150-20 runners will be in need of cake!

All proceeds from the refreshments stall will go towards funding the Sedbergh mobile pump track hire.

If you can please help any donations of cakes can be dropped off at the People's Hall from 9.15am on Sunday 22nd March.

Applications are now open the Sedbergh Artisan Market held on Saturday 23rd May and Saturday 29th August at St Andrew's Church on Finkle Street.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority are looking for new members to join the Yorkshire Dales Access Forum!

If you care about making the Yorkshire Dales more accessible and enjoyable for everyone and have some experience in land management, agriculture, tourism, education, accessibility, conservation or outdoor recreation they want to hear from you.

Apply by 20th March 2026 ready for interviews to be held on 23rd April in Bainbridge.

Muker Show Committee have been offered an opportunity to purchase the main show field where the show has been held since 1893. This is a wonderful opportunity for the Show to own the main show field, ensuring it will continue to be the 'home' of Muker Show for many years and future generations to come.

The Show Committee have raised nearly £30,000 to date, and they are now opening up the fundraising to the public, so everyone has the opportunity to contribute towards the field purchase as we know just how special the show is to so many. This will allow people to feel they have helped secure both Muker Show and the field's future.

Bentham Pet Rescue are in urgent need of more foster care homes for their cats.

Spring on the way which means kitten season is almost here. They are already short on space for their usual adult rescue cat and the waiting list is getting longer too.

SELFA Children's Charity based in Skipton are looking for donations of play resources to help support their Stay & Play SEND sessions.

If you can help with the following items they would be very grateful: Lego or other building bricks, plastic animals, hula hoops, large piece jigsaws with all the pieces.

These resources really do make a huge difference in helping to create a fun, inclusive and engaging environment  for the children and families that SELFA support.

The Yoredale Strummers are a long established ukulele band who meet for a couple of hours every Tuesday at 7pm at Wensley Village Hall.

Members pay £10 a month to cover the coat of hall hire, tea and biscuits.

They play for pleasure and practise songs from their extensive catalogue of 150 songs which includes an eclectic mix of folk and pop and plenty of 60's. You don't need to be able to read music as the chords are written in to the lyrics, members also suggest new songs to add to the catalogue.

The strummers play two or three fundraising gigs a year raising money towards Yorkshire Air Ambulance and supporting local events and venues.

It doesn't take high level skills and effective training is provided.

Giggleswick & Settle Brass Band are a local, friendly non-contesting brass band who are looking to welcome new members for 2026.

They have spaces for front or back row cornet, horns and percussion.

Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm with their training band at 6.45pm.

Can you sew? Craven Wildlife Rescue need some help with the hedgehogs in their care by keeping them warm and dry and would love for you to help them by making snuggle bags, a mini fleece sleeping bag essential in helping the recuperating of a hedgehog.

By doing so you will get the opportunity to use real firefighting equipment, learn techniques of firefighting, be based at a fire station and see what happens behind the scenes, take part in NYFRS activities and gain a Level 2 BTEC at the end of year programme.

Bentham Older people Together Lunch Club are desperately seeking volunteers to help their bus users get to the mini golf whilst travelling on their minibus.

This is based on a rota of approximately every 5 weeks with 1.5 hours in a morning and 1 hour in the afternoon.

Craven Wildlife Rescue have nearly 70 hedgehogs in their care and are running really low on both dry and wet food.

Kitten biscuits, including supermarket's own brand are perfect along with any wet cat or dog food.

Please help to fill the bellies of these prickly creatures by dropping off any donations at the in-rescue centre, Horton in Ribblesdale.

Can you help Chloe Dodwell raise £500 to fund Ingleton's 1940s weekend?

The event is a not-for-profit community event run by a small team of dedicated volunteers who are based in Ingleton.

The popular event which is run every year benefits the local community greatly and helps to support the local economy, businesses and community facilities.

As costs are rising and the popularity of the event growing, they are constantly having to chase funds and hold fundraising events.

Askrigg Rope Makers were formed in 2022 as Caroline the owner is so passionate about the craft after learning her skills at Outhwaites, a former company based in the Dales town of Hawes.

Caroline is trying hard to preserve the tradition and was the only female in the Northeast to make rope in the traditional way on such a commercial scale and would love to get the message out to the Dales that the ropemaking tradition is still being kept alive through her passion and dedication.
